"Not every picture is worth a thousand words; some are worth much more. Scott Robinson has created the photographic 'War and Peace' of stock car racing, an epic visual tribute to NASCAR."

Dave Despain - host of SPEED's"Wind Tunnel" and "Inside NEXTEL Cup."

"If you look closely at the pictures Scott has taken, it's easy to see why NASCAR is the No. 1 motorsports organization in the world. The passion on everyone's face (drivers, crewmembers, and fans) is evident."

Benny Parsons  - 1973 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup champion and NBC/TNT racing analyst

"It isn't everyday that you get the opportunity to look into the lives of those in NASCAR the way this book has. It really gives you the opportunity to get up close and personal with those of us involved in the sport. "

Scott Wimmer - former driver of the Morgan-McClure # 4 Chevy

"Finally, a true picture of what our NASCAR family is all about from one end of the spectrum to the other! To me it really shows the 'family aspect' of our sport, the power of our fans and the bonds they have in relationship to their favorite drivers, and the diverse group of people that make NASCAR what it is today. It is an honor to be a part of this, as not only a race car driver, but also as a NASCAR fan!"

David Green - 1994 Busch Series Champion

I admire Scott Robinson for two things -- his superb photography skills and his honesty. One would think Robinson, who grew up in Owensboro, Ky., would be a motor sports aficionado after all, Owensboro is the hometown of NASCAR drivers Darrell and Michael Waltrip, Jeremy Mayfield, Jeff, David and Mark Green and motorcycle racer Nicky Hayden. Scott writes in his Acknowledgements, "I began this project knowing a lot about photography, but little about NASCAR." Bravo. One other interesting slant to Robinson's book is that it features the PEOPLE of NASCAR NOT the cars.

How good are the photographs? I was a professional photographer for more than twenty years and would be proud to claim any of Robinson's images as my own. There are 220 photographs gorgeously arranged in the book's 192 pages. The printing by Motorbooks is magnificent. The dust cover displays six portraits Tony Stewart, Kasey Kahne, Jack Roush, Lisa Smokstad, Jim Long and Ben Sanders that seem to jump off the page. Whether it is a "spot lacquering" or a special lamination process the result is beautiful.

Photographs range from two-page spreads to extreme close up portraits. The first photograph in the book is a macro shot of Richard Petty's signature belt buckle that speaks volumes about the seven-time NASCAR champion. The images are tastefully arranged with plenty of "white space" as if you were viewing them on gallery walls.
